It is such a treat to eat here! The folks are so nice and the portions of food are so good for the price. It’s unbelievable. They have the best tenderloin, gravy and biscuit and eggs you can put in your mouth. You never have to wait on a refill on coffee and the prices are very reasonable.

The experience was everything we had hoped it'd be! We came to Mt Airy aka "Mayberry" during Mayberry week in September and got so involved in checking out the town we almost missed getting in for lunch before they closed! When we got there, there was a huge line that we joined but it moved rapidly and we were inside in less than 10 minutes I had the ground steak sandwich all-the-way and my hubby had the famous porkchop sandwich all-the-way each with a baggie of chips and a sweet tea for a total of about 10!!!! Was I dubious when I opened my ground steak sandwich which had a THICK juicy tomato slice that dominated it? Sure! But this was a Surry county specialty and one I had recently read about in Our State magazine and I wasn't letting anything get in the way of me trying it. All I can say is while the ingredients are humble (hence it being created in the area during the Depression to feed hungry factory workers, the flavors all-together are outstanding and melted in my mouth! And you need it made "all-the-way" in my opinion to get the full experience...the creamy meat mixture held together by the perfect ratio of flour & milk, the fat, juicy tomato slice, the crunchy slaw, the smear of mayo, and hint of yellow mustard sandwich between a toasted burger bun. Sooooo gooood!!!! My hubby had the famous porkchop sandwich which he feared might be tough and hard to chew but it absolutely was NOT!!! When I had a bite of it, all I could say is WOW!!! I was surprised by the sweet, thin batter on the thinly pounded porch chop but it all balanced well with having it all-the-way with the slaw, yellow mustard, chili, and tomato between the toasted hamburger bun. The porkchop was so tender!!!! Loved the classic, 60s diner feel at prices and warm welcome from the staff whom sure know how to hustle it!!! It's tight quarters with the grill front & center stage when you walk in and it's walk-to-wall Mayberry memorabilia. If you want that place "where the locals go" with fab food and service, this place is IT!!! Do you research before going as far as what their menu consists of so you aren't disappointed. It is a classic diner where food comes wrapped in paper in a basket and Im sure there is tons of preservatives!!! Woooohoooo!!!! Dont go in here and give them a hard time because they dont have fancy, diverse food or can't change all their food for your sensitivities. Pick somewhere else to cater to that. Go here and enjoy it as much as we did!!! If you want to "attempt" to recreate the porkchop sandwich at home, pick up a copy of Aunt Bea's Mayberry Cookbook which contains the ACTUAL recipe supplied by Snappys owner with tips on how to make it successfully and if you want to try and make the ground steak sandwich, check out the article and recipe on the Cook's Country website that goes over the sandwich's history in Surry county.

Truly, one of the best sandwiches in North Carolina. Perhaps in the country. The combination of a battered pork chop, tomato, onion, mustard, chili, absolutely dead on. I have been coming here for years.

Recommend to anyone to stop by Snappy Lunch in Mt Airy, NC for breakfast or grab the famous pork chop sandwich. Buy 2, one plain and one with everything on it ( chili, tomato and Cole slaw my favorite). The locals set the atmosphere as they are some of the nicest people you will find anywhere. Been going there since 1993.

We had the famous porkchop sandwich from Andy Griffith show. It didn't disappoint. You ordered your chips and drink separately, pricing VERY reasonable. Great atmosphere.

Great experience! There was a line to get in, but we only waited about 15 minutes or so. Quick and simple meal with a cool back story. We had a pork chop sandwich "all the way", a bologna and cheese, with chips and drinks. Both were very good! Waitress was nice and we would definitely go back if we are in Mt. Airy again.

This is a must in Mt. Airy! But, plan ahead because every time we’ve gone there’s been a wait. Our most recent trip we ended up calling our order in and finding a table along the side walk to enjoy our sandwiches. The pork chop sandwiches are what they’re known for but if you aren’t a fan of pork they have lots of other things on their menu u that are just as good!

Stopped in for lunch after visiting the Andy Griffith museum. The prices were reasonable and the service was outstanding! We were excited to try the 80 year old *famous pork chop sandwich.* We will return!
